There's nothing wrong with a little wining and dining.
With that said, please allow me to take you into the world of networking, happy hours, schmoozing, card swapping, and all that...with the business savvy husband.
I get an email from the hubs, cause email is totally how we communicate from 9-5, telling me we get to go to the Verizon Center, home of the Washington Wizards (NBA), Mystics (WNBA), Capitals (NHL) and a fantastic variety of concerts, monster truck shows and circus acts. Tonight we would be served all the free food, soda and water we wanted, anything stronger than a pepsi was out of pocket. The reason for the star treatment? Husband's company is looking into court-side seats for the 2012 NBA season!
While the chance of rubbing elbows with Jack Nicholson is slim, we're just one step closer to getting on the kiss-cam (it's a personal goal of ours to be singled out at any professional sports game and be forced to kiss for all the adoring sports fans). And now I might be able to justify wearing heels and skinny jeans to a basket ball game, because someone, somewhere with a ginormous zoom lens would totally want to take a picture of me at a Washington Wizards game. It's a pipe dream, but if a Kardashian can do it, hell...so can I!
So we grabbed some appetizer plates and filled them within an inch of their life (free food is the fuel of the young twenty something in DC). Husband's contact found us and took us down to the floor...TO THE FLOOR of the basketball court. It was pretty darn cool to be that close to where Kobe or Pau Gasol sweat. Ok, so maybe I'm not exactly hip to the Wizards team yet, but the Lakers play them and that's good enough for me.
I'll spare you the business details of what goes into acquiring these seats, but let me just say...they were cool. Fingers crossed his company does the right thing.
After that, we went back to the lounge, grabbed some free cookies and skipped out of there feeling important. It's good to feel important every now and then.
PS...Don't let this post fool you, I'm no die hard NBA fan. I do what every other self respecting wife does...I watch and follow the team the husband follows...but apparently we only do that during the playoffs. No good this year Lakers, no good... Now Baseball...that's a different story. Let's Go Nats!!!
